From Light to Insight in SEEING: A Photon’s Journey Across Space and Mind and Unveiling the Invisible Universe Join us at the Blake Planetarium for a thought-provoking program that explores how we observe the universe and how the universe reveals itself to us. Our feature presentation, SEEING: A Photon’s Journey Across Space and Mind, follows the extraordinary journey of a single photon. Born in a distant star, this tiny packet of light travels across the vastness of space before landing on a human retina, triggering a cascade of biological and neurological processes that allow us to see. Narrated by astronomer and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson, this immersive fulldome experience weaves together astrophysics, the biology of vision, and the workings of the human brain in a powerful story about perception and discovery. We’ll also screen Unveiling the Invisible Universe, which expands our view beyond what the human eye can detect. Trace the evolution of astronomy from early naked-eye observations to Galileo’s telescope, modern space-based observatories, and cutting-edge discoveries using X-rays, gamma rays, neutrinos, cosmic rays, and gravitational waves. This program reveals how multiple “messengers” allow scientists to study the most energetic and mysterious events in the cosmos, opening entirely new windows into the universe. TICKETS ARE SOLD ONLINE ONLY. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR. Please note that we are a ticketless venue. When you buy your ticket online, you are immediately added to our attendee list, no need to print anything or present an e-ticket. Just check in on show night with your name and a smile. All ages welcome. Parking is free. Food and drink are not allowed in the planetarium. No refunds at any time. If you have questions about the event, please email Alison Riordan at ariordan@plymouth.k12.ma.us (Science Curriculum Coordinator, Plymouth Public Schools).
